Energy Labeling Requirements for Suppliers and Dealers

Suppliers are required to produce energy labels in full compliance with EU regulations enforced by Safety & Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

Supplier Responsibilities:

Suppliers must provide energy labels to dealers as early as possible and free of charge.  It is strictly prohibited to display any label, grading, symbol, or information that could mislead consumers about the product’s energy efficiency.

Dealer Responsibilities:

Dealers must ensure that energy labels are clearly visible on products, attaching them where appropriate, and making the fiche (detailed product information) available to consumers.  For distance selling (such as online or catalog sales), the energy label and fiche information must be provided to consumers before they make a purchase.

Standardized Energy Label Information:

The energy label, standardized across the UK and EU, must include:

• Annual energy consumption displayed in kWh/year
• Energy efficiency class, ranked from best to worst, using a colour-coded scale with corresponding arrows
• The model number and manufacturer’s name
• Product-specific data in an easy-to-read pictogram format
